So you may be wondering what a crazy geek like me carries around in his kit.
Warning! Geekiness and Pictures ahead!
First off, I have my trusty old EastSport Backpack.
This sturdy backpack consists of a large inner pocket, a smaller zippered front pocket with a flap over it, a small zipper pocket on the flap, several pen holders on the left side, and a bottle holder on the right side.
It has the typical backpack straps on the back and a handle on top. I don't have the shoulder strap connected.
I've been using this backpack for various uses for well over 10 years now.

In the small front flap pocket I carry:
A retractable CAT5 Ethernet cable.
A USB number keypad.
A set of earphones.
A multi-card reader/USB hub.
A ZyXEL AG-225H USB a/b/g WiFi card/WiFi scanner.
My custom made USB power/data peripheral cable for my Neo Freerunner.
In the main front pocket I carry:
A long 3 port extension cord.
A Stanley LED flashlight with up-down moving head and 3 legs.
A portable screwdriver set.
A car or wall to dual USB device power adapter/charger.
The original phone from my AT&T prepaid kit and its charger just in case.
In the main inner pocket I carry:
A CD soft case filled mainly with a variety of Linux Live CDs/DVDs.
A rollup USB keyboard with a USB extension cable.
A Rolodex binder with business cards, a notepad, and a pen.
A multi-cable-adapter kit with a variety of USB, Firewire, etc. cables and adapters.
In the bottle holder I carry my trusty water bottle.
Next up we have my MegaTokyo Messenger Bag.
This great bag consists of an inner pocket, a smaller inner back pocket, 2 small inside front pockets, an inside zipper pocket behind the front pockets, a zipper pocket on the flap, a shoulder strap with an elastic and Velcro cell phone pocket on it, and a handle.
It has been perfect for my needs.
In the flap pocket I carry:
A 10 foot CAT6 Ethernet cable.
A soft floppy mouse pad.
In the cell phone pocket I carry my
Cowon iAudio X5 20GB digital media player.
In the inner left front pocket I carry:
A set of earbuds.
A USB cable.
An eSATA cable.
A Firewire cable.
A Logitech USB wireless optical mouse.
In the inner right pocket I carry a CaseLogic case containing:
A set of earbuds.
A set of over-the-ear earbuds.
A stereo audio cable.
A USB cable for my Cowon iAudio X5.
A USB cable for my Neo Freerunner.
The connection/charger attachment for my Cowon iAudio X5.
A couple spare batteries for my mouse.

In the inner front zipper pocket I carry:
A device cleaning kit.
A screen cleaning cloth for my laptop.
A couple microSD to sd card adapters.
A 512MB microSD card that came with my Neo Freerunner (it currently has an 8GB card in it).
In the main inner pocket I carry:
A mouse pad.
My
ZaReason UltraLap SR in a zipper sleeve.
In the back inner pocket I carry:
The power cable and Tripp Lite inline surge protector for my laptop.
A USB/eSATA enclosure with a 750GB SATA hard disk.
Next we have the other assorted items I usually have on me.
On my belt and pocket I carry:
A Xikar pocket knife.
A Gerber multi-plier tool.
A 2-AA MagLite with a 3-LED conversion kit.
Usually in a pocket or in my backpack I also carry:
My Neo Freerunner, currently running the latest SHR release.
My keychain with a mini multi-plier tool, round 4-head flat screwdriver, and a small LED flashlight.
My “Geek Necklace” lanyard holding an OCZ Rally2 2GB flash drive, a Patriot 8GB flash drive, and a static discharge unit.
